The women’s Podlasie costume consists of a dark, velvet, often hand-embroidered bodice, a skirt and an apron made of hand-woven striped fabric (often decorated with satin fabric and cotton lace), a blouse decorated with cross-stitch in black and red and, in the Knyszyn area, with plant patterns. The head may be covered with an embroidered wrap.

The men’s Podlasie costume consists of a shirt decorated with cross-stitch in black and red, a navy blue waistcoat, trousers made of woolen cloth and a Maciejówka cap. Sometimes a russet coat was worn with a selvedge.
